Bayern Munich's new signing Jan Kirchhoff is confident that his decision to leave Mainz for the German champions was the right decision.
The central defender will face stiff competition from the likes of Jerome Boateng and Dante for a starting place.
But the 22-year-old is looking forward to the challenge at playing for the European champions - and insists moving to Munich was the correct decision.
"There is a lot of competition for places, but I am really looking forward to the challenge," Kirchhoff was quoted as saying by Kicker. "Bayern are the right choice for me."
Kirchhoff agreed a contract with Bayern Munich in January after his contract at Mainz expired.
He came through the ranks of the Eintracht Frankfurt academy before joining Mainz in 2007. He progressed through Mainz II, their reserve team, and has since made 58 league appearances for the senior club.
He has been capped at German youth level with Germany Under 18s, 19s and 21s.
The 6ft 5in defender is regarded as one of the most talented young defenders in the Bundesliga, and will be a useful signing for Bayern Munich after they announced Holger Badstuber has been ruled out for ten months.
