Real Madrid have upped the ante with the charm offensive in their quest to try and sign Tottenham Hotspur superstar Gareth Bale this summer.
Spanish newspaper Marca claims the Santiago Bernabeu club have set aside Bale’s number 11 shirt and will not fill it until the Spurs talisman moves to the Spain capital.
The report says Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has only just begun with a summer of tactics designed to convince Bale to ditch White Hart Lane for los Blancos and that he is willing to wait until the final hours of the transfer window.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has reportedly turned down the opportunity to manage PSG this week, opting to continue his project at Spurs.
However, the presence of Bale will likely have been a major factor in his decision and he has publicly stated that Spurs desperately need the 23-year-old to stay, so losing him would be a huge blow to their Champions League hopes for next season.
Marca claim that Bale is already being labelled ‘The Eleventh Galactico’ and they expect the summer to end in much the same way it did with Luka Modric last year.
Modric has been one of the many voices from Real Madrid urging Bale to the Santiago Bernabeu.
