With the 2013/14 season just a couple of months away, it is time to look back to the past and dive into the history books at Arsenal Football Club.
The 2013/14 campaign will be Arsenal's 97th season in top-flight English football and their 110th overall in the league, an amazing statistic for quite an amazing football club, so we thought we would look into their past and publish some great statistics from their beginning all the way back in 1889.
Not only will it be their 110th league campaign, the upcoming season will also be Arsenal's 88th consecutive season in the top-flight of English football, now known as the Premier League.
So lets look back into their previous 109 league campaigns.
The Gunners have played 4,334 games, winning 1,973 (45.5%) drawing 1,084 (25%) and losing the remaining 1,277 (29.5%).
The total 4,334 comes from all ranges of divisions ranging from the old Second Division to todays Premier League Division.
Over their years of existence, Arsenal have gained a whopping 5,173 points, second to only Liverpool, who have earnt 5,231 in their history. Coming in second means Arsenal have more points than Everton (5,063) and Manchester United (4,984) in top-flight football.
So that shows how well Arsenal have performed during their existence results-wise, but how have they finished position-wise?
Well, Arsenal's average league position in the last 109 seasons is 6.74 and during the 21 Premier League seasons it is 3.62.
In the Premier League, Arsenal have played 810 games and have won a staggering 436 of them. Drawing 214 and losing just 160. They have also scored nearly more-than double the amount they have conceded.
So in total from 1889 to 2013, Arsenal Football Club have featured in 5,256 in all competitions and they have won 2,472 of those games.
The rest have been shared out by draws (1,282) and losses (1,502).
During the time period and the 5,256 games, Arsenal have scored over 2,500 more goals than what they have conceded.
