According to UFC Tonight fighter Hector Lombard will make the move from middleweight to welterweight as he targets success in a sport in which he has so far failed to impress.
His tenure as a UFC fighter has been something of a nightmare so far. The former Bellator middleweight champion was one of the most high profile 185-pound UFC signings in recent years, entering the Octagon without a loss in his preceding 25 fights.
Lombard lost to Tim Boetsch in his promotional debut and, although he made an impressive comeback to knock-out submission specialist Rousimar Palhares, he stumbled again to lose his most recent bout to Yushin Okami.
Now the 35 year-old has decided to make the drop down to the 170-pound weight class, as he eyes a potential match-up with Nate Marquardt.
Both Lombard's defeats came as the result of split decisions, and he will be hoping his fortunes will start to turn around in any possible fight against Marquardt, the former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion, who has lost his last two fights.
