This neck-snapping hit from Wanganui Collegiate player Ruslan Casey will go down as one of the most brutal hits in the history of rugby, despite happening at school level.
The victim, Kip Fawcett from St. Paul's Collegiate, cuts through Wanganui's line and heads towards the try line, handing off smartly to his centre with no thought of the explosion of violence about to meet him.
What looks to be one of the Wanganui wingers, out of shot at the start of the move, flies across and launches at the unprotected ribs of Fawcett, almost separating head from body with the force of the huge, albeit slightly late, hit.
Unfortunately the fullback can't come close to replicating his teammate's brutality and delivers a poor attempt at a tackle, allowing the opposition to score the try anyway, rendering Casey's efforts in vain.
Despite the hit, Fawcett appears to be back on his feet quickly afterwards and hopefully isn't suffering from any long term damage.
