The feud between nine time world champion Valentino Rossi and Alvaro Bautista got personal on Sunday’s round of the MotoGP.

At the Circuit de Catalunya, with Bautista again making an opening lap blunder, almost taking out Rossi for the second race in succession.

Fortunately though, for Rossi fans at least, this wasn’t the case as Bautista fell into the gravel trap, this time without claiming a victim on his departure from the race.

However, this didn’t stop Rossi from unleashing an attack on the Spanish rider; telling the Italian press that Bautista’s move was “very stupid” also labelling it “a little bit crazy” and saying it was a futile attempt at an overtaking manoeuvre, as he was clearly faster than him (Bautista).

He didn’t stop there though, regressing on more “stupid” manoeuvres by Bautista when he took out fellow Spaniard and title winner Jorge Lorenzo in Assen in 2012. This also brings to mind the last round of the 2011 season at Spain’s Valencia circuit where Bautista again came into contact with Rossi, also taking out Randy de Puniet and American.

The Italian was more diplomatic at his home Grand Prix of Muggello two weeks previous where the first incident took place, later speaking to, saying: “He cut the line and I was already there, so he didn’t see me and unfortunately it can happen.”

But arguably more frustrated when Bautista agreed with MotoGP race direction in calling the incident which sent Rossi flying into protective barriers on the third corner at Muggello a “racing incident” and Bautista later adding: “It was just a racing incident that leaves us both with a bitter taste in the mouth but neither of us are to blame.”

Rossi has called upon race direction to look further into the matter. He said: “Race Direction must do something with Bautista after these two episodes but especially this one because it's not smart to do something.”
