Nick Powell could be set for a season-long move to relegated Wigan Athletic in an attempt to force his way into the Manchester United first team in seasons to come according to The Sun.
The 19-year-old midfielder joined United from Crewe Alexandra in 2012, but has made only two senior first team appearances since the transfer.
This is less down to personal form, but to the sparkling form of Ferguson's favoured midfield last season, with Shinji Kagawa, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley and Ryan Giggs often being preferred to Powell.
Powell spent most of his match-days playing in the Manchester United reserve team.
And with Coyle being announced as Roberto Martinez's successor last week, he is reportedly readying a loan move for the rookie, as he attempts to force his way into the thoughts of new manager David Moyes.
The England Under-18 international will want to avoid the fates suffered by Reece Brown and Luke Giverin both of whom were released this season, despite playing regularly on-loan at Ipswich Town and Royal Antwerp.
But despite his lack of playing time, the Reds are not considering selling their £6m signing, but would prefer to see Powell go out on-loan to continue his development.
And this is something Coyle can offer, with his Wigan side craving Premier League quality to ensure they return to the top-flight of English football at the first attempt.
Wigan will play Manchester United in the Community Shield at Wembley on 11th August, and this could be a chance for the two clubs to iron out a deal in order to finalise the loan-move.
