Juan Mata set for Jose Mourinho talks

Published 1 Comments

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is keen to put Juan Mata’s mind at ease and reassure the Spain international that he is integral to the Portuguese’s plans at Stamford Bridge.

Reports over the last two weeks had suggested Mata’s future at Chelsea was in doubt and he was linked with a £30million transfer to La Liga champions Barcelona.

The 23-year-old has been one of Chelsea’s most influential players over the past two seasons, so reports of him possibly being offloaded were worrying for fans of the west London club.

However, the Mirror now claim Mourinho intends to hold talks with Mata to reassure the playmaker that he is central to plans for the coming season.

The report claims Stamford Bridge officials are annoyed with Barcelona for what they perceive as an attempt to unsettle the player by instigating reports about the move.

Mata is currently on international duty with Spain at the Confederations Cup and Mourinho will wait until Mata returns from Brazil before speaking with him.
