Real Madrid shame themselves with Gareth Bale talk

Real Madrid, perhaps the biggest club in the world, record holders of the European Cup, and so on. They seem intent on becoming one of the most despised clubs.

The recent lack of respect shown to Tottenham Hotspur it seems, is all to familiar and seems to have become a characteristic of Florentino Perez and Los Blancos.

All that radiates from the Madrid based club at the moment is Gareth Bale. Florentino Perez has spoken about it, Zinedine Zidane has speculated about it.

It is a surprise UEFA have stepped in and declared this some sort of tapping up scandal. Tottenham Hotspur must be getting increasingly frustrated at Real’s openness to talk about one of their players.

It resembles the ‘Ronaldo Saga’ of 2008 and 2009. They seem intent on undermining other clubs and unsettling numerous players. The pure nerve of one of the greatest players of all time to proclaim to Bale to hand in a transfer request just doesn’t bare thinking about. The arrogance radiating off the Spanish giants at times is unbelievable.

Rewind to the Ronaldo saga and Sir Alex Ferguson was very critical of the Madrid club, claiming that their interference and persistent desire to speak about signing Ronaldo has seriously ‘destabilised’ the winger.

Arsene Wenger voiced his concern at the total lack of respect Real had shown Ronaldo and Manchester United (Roman Calderon was the Real president at the time and failed to sign Ronaldo; Perez eventually brought him to the club). This saga is largely the same.

Spurs fans’ must be sick to the back teeth hearing rumours of Bale leaving.

Whether they get Bale or not this summer it hasn’t been for the lack of try, underhanded or not, it is going to be a long while until we hear the end of this saga.

Real will not relent until they have got what they feel is rightfully theirs. It shows the culture that has become football where financial clout means the biggest clubs can bully the smaller clubs.
