The second round of group matches in the Confederations Cup was anything but tame.

A seven-goal thriller between Italy and Japan threw up drama you'd be pushed to find at the World Cup itself. And Spain's utterly dominant performance with what was widely seen as their 'B' team, still brought only pride to Tahiti, who lost 10-0, showing a side of football rarely seen at international tournaments.

Here are just some of the stunning goals in round two of the Confederations Cup 2013.

3. Diego Forlan vs Nigeria

Diego Forlan may not be the flashiest of players at the tournament, but he's one of the most experienced.

He marked his 100th cap for Uruguay with a fearsome shot that flew past the 'keeper and hit the roof of the net.

The goal took Uruguay into the lead, with the two who were supposed to be the dangerous duo, Cavani & Suarez having to step aside for their elder statesman as he showed the world why he has reached 100 caps.

2. Shinji Kagawa vs Italy

An unbelievable game with seven goals only really yielded one stand-out strike, and that was the goal from Shinji Kagawa to take Japan into a 2-0 lead inside 30mins against four-time world champions Italy.

The Manchester United star slipped seemingly past both Chiellini & Barzagli, swivelled and hit a sweet strike bast Gigi Buffon. The goal stunned the Recife crowd as the rain began to thunder down.

Italy came back to win the thriller, but this goal stood out for me.

1. Neymar vs Mexico

He's back here again. After scoring a simply sensational tournament opener, Neymar struck a technically perfect ball to rip past Corona, who must feel exposed after conceding Pirlo's free-kick in the first game.

Not only was the volley itself brilliant, but to take a ball down from that height and strike it with that much venom is extremely difficult. This goal deserves its place at the top for me.

Although Spain beat Tahiti 10-0, there weren't any stand-out goals.

Some notable goals that didn't make the cut:

Jo vs Mexico (Neymar's build up was superb)

Sebastian Giovinco vs Japan (Delicious through ball by De Rossi to get it going)

David Silva vs Tahiti (Great build-up play, albeit against weak defending and finesse shot)

John Obi Mikel vs Uruguay (Nice powerful strike, doesn't score often)
