Manchester United reportedly hope to complete the signing of young midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona in the coming days.

United had been linked with Thiago's teammate Cesc Fabregas, but have opted to move for the Spain under-21 star.

David Luiz is being talked into leaving Chelsea to join Barcelona this summer by Camp Nou full-back Dani Alves.

Both are currently playing for Brazil at the Confederations Cup in their homeland and reports claim the Barça star is keen for the Blues centre-back to join him.

Tottenham could be about to lose coach Tim Sherwood to Brighton, with the south coast club reportedly hoping to make him their next manager.

The Daily Star report the highly-rated Sherwood is in line to replace Gus Poyet, who is expected to leave the club shortly.

Manuel Pellegrini's first game in charge of Manchester City will be against South African side SuperSport United in the Nelson Mandela Football Invitational.

The Chilean's City reign will begin in Pretoria on July 14, with a second fixture to follow against AmaZulu FC in Durban four days later.

One of the stars of the Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ side, Sol Campbell, is interested in taking over as England Under-21 manager.

Campbell has no previous management experience but has been working on his coaching badges and believes he can turn the side around after Stuart Pearce was let go following a woeful Euro U21 Championship showing in Israel.

Barcelona are worried they may lose another promising young star in Cristian Tello after he failed to play enough minutes to up his release clause from €10million.

Thiago Alcantara is poised to leave Camp Nou for a reduced fee after a similar failing and Barça officials are working hard to get a new agreement sorted with Tello’s agent.
