Former Barcelona star Luis Figo expects Lionel Messi and Neymar to have a "great" working relationship once the Brazilian settles into life at the Nou Camp.

Neymar joined the Blaugrana for £48.5 million last month and will partner the Argentine, as well the likes of Andres Iniesta and Xavi for the Spanish champions.

Figo, speaking ahead of a charity match in Venezuela on Saturday, said that only off-field issues could stand in the way of a potentially world-class partnership.

When asked about the two strikers, he told reporters: "The great players always understand each other. If they don't get on, it won't be because of football."

The Portugese legend also predicted who he thinks will come out on top at the ongoing Confederations Cup this summer, tipping either Brazil or Spain.

"In theory, Spain and Brazil are favourites," said Figo. "Obviously in practise it can be different, so let's see who wins it." he added.

Neymar's Selecao side face Italy on Saturday in a Group A decider, with the duo likely to be joined by Spain and Uruguay in the semi-finals next week.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old Brazilian is set to make his first Barcelona appearance, alongside Messi, in a friendly against Gdansk on July 20.
