Tony Adams has revealed his disappointment with the appointment of Sir Chips Keswick to the board and the ex-Arsenal captain believes the Gunners are not good enough to win the Premier League anytime soon.

In fact, Adam's believes he, himself, has the credentials to join the board at the Emirates and the 46-year-old even wrote to Arsenal to offer his services, but didn't receive a response.

Adams told reporters: "Look, I would make the tea for Arsenal Football Club, but I thought I ticked all the right boxes for the board," he says in an insistent manner.

"I don't need the money, I would put the good of the club first in every case and I could mediate well within the club."  Adams is clearly eager to launch himself into one last tackle - turning Arsenal back into the trophy-lifters they used to be.

About his disappointment with the appointment of Sir Chips Keswick, Adams stated: "Chips is a great guy but not a very imaginative choice. And he is 73.

"But if they just wanted a figurehead, they should've gone for me. I think it would've been a better visionary decision that Chips, even though I love him to bits. But maybe the owner thinks Chips is better politically than me."

Adams added that he will repeat to Keswick the offer he made to Peter Hill-Wood. The idea of Adams becoming an unpaid director at the club was thought of last season when he was a guest of Hill-Wood's. However, with a response still pending, it seems unlikely that Adams will join Arsenal anytime soon.

Arsenal are currently in a tough situation, with Arsene Wenger's contract expiring next season. "They should be lining up the new manager. Chief executive Ivan Gazidis is in a tricky situation and I think he could do with some help," Adams admits.

Adams wants to see Arsenal lift trophies again, and the only way he can be a part of that is through the board now.

"It's time that Arsenal won something again, even the FA Cup or the League Cup. But, I can't see it to be honest. They are still not good enough in certain areas of the team. And they are miles off the title."

If that is the case, is new vision what Arsenal needs? Would that mean Arsene Wenger could be on his way out next season after an impressive 17-year reign?

Adams lastly revealed that he would be willing to speak with Keswick and that his offer is still open. "If Chips wants to pick up the phone, I will be happy to have lunch with him," the Gunner's legend said.
