Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has stated that he wishes to see out the final year of his contract at Barcelona after speculation linked him with a move away from the Nou Camp.
Premier League clubs Arsenal and Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the Spanish international keeper, but Liverpool's expected signing of Sunderland's Simon Mignolet looks to have decreased the probability of the move.
But with Liverpool's Pepe Reina rumoured to be questioning his future at the club following Mignolet's arrival, a move for Valdes could still be on, if contact is made.
Reina has been linked with a return to the Nou Camp, after playing for Barcelona as a youngster. Rumours have suggested that a swap deal could be a possibility, but this seems unlikely as neither keeper is out-of-contract.
Valdes has spent his entire career playing with the Catalan-based club, and a move so late in his career seems unlikely, as he is still considered first choice with Barcelona.
But despite the increasing media speculation, Valdes has again reiterated that a move away from the Barcelona is unlikely, because he wants to see out the remaining year currently left on his contract.
Speaking to Spanish reporters about his future, Valdes said: "I consider that my cycle as a Barcelona player will come to an end when my contract expires in 2014.
"I understand that with more than 12 months warning there should be sufficient time to find the best solution for the club and for the player, so that Barcelona keep on winning and so do I."
