Zinedine Zidane scuppers Manchester City move for Isco

Manchester City’s chase for Spain starlet Isco was scuppered after the intervention of Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane.

According to the Daily Star, Real Madrid have won the race to sign the Malaga playmaker and the decisive move was a single phone call.

New Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini was expected to bring the 21-year-old with him when he joined from Malaga, but it now appears the Etihad Stadium outfit will have to look elsewhere.

This latest report claims Zidane went into action after it was looking like Manchester City would beat the Santiago Bernabeu club to Isco’s signature.

The France legend is Real Madrid director of football and convinced the talented young midfielder to ditch Manchester City to stay in Spain.

Isco was worried about playing opportunities with los Blancos, but Zidane reportedly allayed these fears and insisted he would be given a prominent role in the plans of new manager Carlo Ancelotti.
