The lack of attacking efficiency was a problem for Tottenham last season.
The club's Portuguese manager André Villas-Boas is sure to search the market for the best solution to his still incomplete squad.
At least in the last third of the pitch, especially when Bale is not available or inspired, the team has struggled to score goals.
Here are the top three possible transfers attributed to Tottenham:
3. Leandro Damiao | Internacional
The Brazilian striker is sure to be a good acquisition for the north London side. Exuberant and skilful, Damiao is able to open spaces through the defensive line of opponent teams.
At the age of 23, he can still progress and will certainly be available to fit into Spurs tactical decisions, although he is moving from the other side of the Atlantic.
The greatest fault of the Brazilian international is his lack of practicality, since his complex and resourceful skill is an attribute not always used to simplify the game, scoring only 28 goals in his more than 70 appearances for Internacional.
2. David Villa | Barcelona
One of the most prolific scorers in La Roja’s history, Villa is definitively able to take matters into his own hands at White Hart Lane.
The Spain international has scored more than 50 goals for his national team, and a total of 257 goals in La Liga.
Villa is already 31-years-old and has never played outside of Spain. A move to Spurs would be a great challenge for the Barcelona striker, who might not be able to complete the tactical and practical mindset he always maintained.
1. Christian Benteke | Aston Villa
Aston Villa’s striker was one of the brightest stars in the most-recent season of the Premier League.
Debuting in England with 19 goals scored is no mean feat, especially for a club that almost faced relegation.
The Belgian youngster is the best to fulfil Tottenham's needs since he is already aware of English football’s structures and tactics. Also, he is physically fit to play inside the box and to take on aerial challenges.
Still just 22-years-old, Benteke will probably be the best bet for Villas-Boas’s squad.
