Neil Robertson secures Wuxi Classic title

Neil Robertson believes that winning the Wuxi Classic in China was one of the best moments of his career.

Robertson played a high-quality match to beat John Higgins 10-7 and secure back-to-back titles in Asia, after his previous success in the China Open, confirming his place at the top of snooker’s ranking system.

The Australian told WorldSnooker.com: “It's unbelievable to win two titles in a row in China because a couple of years ago I would have been happy just to win back-to-back matches here.

"This is easily one of the proudest moments of my career.

"I always knew I could win tournaments in the UK but there was a question mark over whether I could deal with playing in China. The playing conditions here this week have been the best I have ever played in.

“I'll go to the Shanghai Masters in September full of confidence and there's no reason why I can't win three in a row in China.”

This confidence was particularly evident in the final too, when Robertson turned around a 5-2 deficit, winning five games in a row and allowing Higgins to win just 12 points, to swing the final back in his favour.

He made breaks of 52, 57 and a match-high 113 during this time, showing excellent cue-ball control throughout.

Robertson went on to win the match in frame 17, taking the £80,000 prize-fund and securing his eighth ranking title.

The 31-year-old’s attentions will now turn to the Australian Goldfields Open, which starts in July.
