Premier League champions Manchester United are ready to make a £50m bid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Uruguayan striker, who is currently featuring in the Confederations Cup in Brazil, has admitted that he wants to leave Italy and will apparently make his final decision before July 20.

Cavani has been highly-scouted by the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and also Real Madrid; however, his price-tag has put City manager Manuel Pellegrini off attempting to sign the striker.

New Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that a striker is what he wants and his attentions are firmly on Cavani, but the striker himself has his eyes set on a move to Spain in order to join Real Madrid.

In recent reports, Cavani admitted that a move to the Bernabeu would be his ideal move, but also agreed that he would be foolish to turn down a move to Chelsea if the chance came along.

With Chelsea and Real Madrid in the driving seat to sign Cavani, it has now come out that Premier League champions Manchester United are now weighing up a potential bid for the 26-year-old.

It is thought that United are willing to offer £50m for Cavani, which is £4m short of the striker's release clause in his contract, so it is highly likely that Napoli will reject the offer from United.
