Newcastle United fans vented their fury at controversial owner Mike Ashley’s decision to appoint Joe Kinnear as director of football, at a fans' forum.
The meeting, held by Newcastle fans and supporters' group, was attended by over 200 fans.
Kinnear was originally expected to be at the meeting, but he did not attend and it was left to his friend Eddie McIntrye to deal with the backlash.
On Kinnear’s decision to not attend to meeting, McIntrye stated: "I spoke to Joe Kinnear this morning. He was waiting to be picked up by Graham Carr, who lives in Northampton.
"He was picking Joe up in Mill Hill and they were having a business lunch, which will go on tomorrow.
"That's the reason Joe hasn't been able to come."
The former Newcastle and Wimbledon manager has done little to appease the fans’ concerns over his appointment since it was announced that he would be the new director of football, though.
He has made a number of press appearances where he has repeatedly criticised the Newcastle supporters and mispronounced player’s names, but McIntyre tried his best to defend his friend for this actions.
He said: “He regrets, naturally, what has happened over the last week. But Joe Kinnear will be here some time in the future."
Fans, too, vented their anger over Ashley’s ownership of the club. Many called for him to “sell up and get out”, although it seems unlikely that Ashley will be perturbed by the comments, as he has been the brunt of many other protests during his tumultuous time as owner of Newcastle United.
