Isco looks set to choose Real Madrid over Manchester City, as a deal to join the Spanish giants from Malaga edges closer.

Both Madrid and City have been heavily linked with the exciting, young talent, but Florentino Perez has hinted that his transfer to the Bernabeu is nearing completion.

Talking to 20 Minutos, Perez stated: “He wants to be a Real Madrid player and Madrid want him."

Isco was understood to be one of new Manchester City managers Manuel Pellegrini’s top targets and it was hoped that the fact that they had worked together at Malaga would work in City's favour, but it seems that Isco has opted to stay in Spain.

It is a blow for the Etihad side as they look to add to their squad for next season, having already spent a considerable amount of money to bring both Fernandinho and Jesus Navas to Manchester.

Isco has been very much in the public eye recently, following a series of excellent displays at the European U21 Championships, which Spain won and he is widely considered to be amongst the top young talents in the world.
