Gareth Bale is not going anywhere and Tottenham Hotspur are not open to offers, according to manager Andre Villas-Boas.

The Spurs talisman is playing with greater freedom and confidence than he has done previously in his career and Spurs are desperate to carry on encouraging him.

Villas-Boas reiterated his desire to keep Bale at White Hart Lane and explained how their strong relationship would make this possible.

Bale had a sensational season and swept the board of players’ awards after scoring 21 Premier League goals and nearly carrying Tottenham to a Champions League spot.

Such good form has led to serious interest coming from Real Madrid, with Santiago Bernabeu director of football Zinedine Zidane regularly commenting on how great the 23-year-old is.

A world record transfer fee of £85million has been mooted but Villas-Boas revealed Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had reassured him no bids would be accepted.

“The chairman [Levy] said that we are not open to offers, whatever they are, and that the player will stay," he said in an interview with O Jogo.

"In football anything can happen, but these are the guarantees given to me.”

The former Chelsea manager also described how a conversation between him and Bale led to the Welshman’s incredible run of form throughout the season.

"There was a moment last season when Gareth came to me because he was not comfortable out on the pitch,” he added.

"I do not know if it was my response or that he was glad to relieve the stress, but after that he became confident and played with freedom. He felt important and finished the year in style."
