Arsenal and Manchester United have, reportedly, recorded vast improvements in squad worth, whilst other top four teams have recorded huge deficits.
According to a new study by the Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory the Arsenal squad is worth over £119millon more than manager Arsene Wenger paid for them; the Manchester United squad is said to be worth £78 million more than Sir Alex Ferguson paid out.
On the other side of Manchester, and in west London, there is a very different story, with Manchester City allegedly with a deficit of squad worth close to £51 million, and new Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, inheriting a squad worth £31 million less than they were bought for.
Despite this, Manchester United, City and Chelsea have the best-rated squads in the Premier League, with values of £422 million, £405 million and £391 million respectively.
Arsenal comes next with £316 million, followed by Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool wit £266m and £249 m respectively.
Fulham are said to be the worst rated squad, worth £40million, behind Wigan Athletic and Reading, despite their relegations this term.
Once again the honour of being the player worth the most has fallen to Lionel Messi (£215m), who is said to be worth over double his Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo (£100m), and more than five times as much as Spurs ace Gareth Bale, (£43m).
However, any club looking to buy Gareth Bale will surely have to pay much more than £43 million for his services.
