Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted he would relish the challenge of rivalling Neymar in La Liga next season.

Barcelona signed the Brazil superstar in a £50million deal this summer and Suarez has been linked with a switch to their rivals Real Madrid.

The Anfield star is currently at the Confederations Cup with Uruguay in Brazil, where Neymar has been playing magnificently for the hosts.

In an interview with Brazilian newspaper Globo Esporte, the Liverpool man praised the 21-year-old for his recent performances and believes experience in the Confederations Cup will help the former Santos forward to adapt to European football more quickly.

It was then that the journalist asked Suarez if he would be a rival of Neymar in Spain next season.

“I have the will to succeed, to continue growing in my professional career, as with anyone. I can never stop at one goal. I always try to grow steadily,” he said with a smile.

Liverpool will be used to the Uruguayan speaking about his future away from Anfield, as he has mentioned his admiration for Real Madrid on more than one occasion.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted the Reds do not want to sell Suarez and that they would do all they could to get him to stay.

Neymar and Suarez will be able to get their rivalry started when Brazil and Uruguay meet in the Confederations Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
