Manchester City top Premier League agent fees table

Published 3 Comments

Premier League clubs splashed £77million on agent fees last season - £6million more than the previous campaign - with Manchester City leading the way in terms of outlay, with a total cash spend of £10.5million, according to the Daily Mail.

The 2012/13 runners-up paid almost £2million more than the second biggest agent pocket-fillers, Liverpool, who exhausted £8.6million of income on their way to a seventh place finish.

Recently relegated Queens Park Rangers were the third biggest spenders with £6.8million, mainly due to their wheeling and dealing in the January transfer window, which resulted in an unsuccessful attempt by Harry Redknapp to retain the west London club's top-flight status.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotpsur (£6.5m), Chelsea (£6.4m), and Arsenal (£5.5m) complete the six biggest agent fee spenders, while Premier League champions Manchester United placed eighth with a much more modest outlay of £3.6million.

At the other end of the scale, Southampton drove the hardest bargain when it comes to transfer dealing, paying out just £646,000 to player representatives, while five other clubs - Swansea, Norwich City, West Brom, Stoke, and Wigan Athletic - managed to keep their spending below £2million.
