Brooklyn Nets to face Atlanta Hawks in London
Brooklyn Nets face Atlanta Hawks in London in January 2014
The Brooklyn Nets will face the Atlanta Hawks in London at the 02 Arena on January 16, 2014, according to the NBA.
The trip to the English capital will mark the third time the Nets organisation have competed in London, having played a preseason game there in 2008 and two regular season matches against the Toronto Raptors in 2011.
The game will be part of the NBA Global Games London 2014 event, while the San Antonio Spurs will face the Minnesota Timberwolves in Mexico City on December 4, 2013.
It will be the first time ever that the NBA will play two regular season games in two different countries outside the United States and Canada in the same season.
Nets general manager Billy King said: "We are very excited to once again represent the NBA in London. The fans have always been very supportive and we look forward to once again entertaining them with Brooklyn Nets basketball.
Hawks president and general manager Danny Ferry said: "Playing in London will be a special experience for our players and coaches, and we are proud to represent Atlanta in front of an international audience."
The Nets will be led by new head coach Jason Kidd. The legendary point guard retired at the end of last season, but jumped straight into a head coaching job with the Nets - who reached the playoffs last term only to fall to the Chicago Bulls.
The Atlanta Hawks also made the playoffs from the Eastern Conference but were defeated by the Indiana Pacers.
Fans will be able to purchase tickets for the game in London from October.
