Chelsea transfer target Eliaquim Mangala will cost €50million, the club has confirmed.
Reports in Portuguese newspaper Record claimed that the Blues had switched their sights to Kurt Zouma after being quoted the mammoth price-tag.
And, Porto president Pinto Da Costa has confirmed the news, revealing the 22-year-old centre back will only be allowed to leave the club for the minimum fee release clause in his contract – which stands at €50million.
"This footballer only leaves our club if someone pays the release clause," he told A Bola.
The confirmation will be a blow to new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, with Sky Sports reporting that ‘the special one’ had been tracking the player as a possible addition to his defence this summer.
Mangala moved to the Estadio do Dragao in the summer of 2011, leaving Standard Liege for the current Primeira Liga champions.
His form in Portugal led to a first international cap with France, and has also seen Chelsea show an interest in bringing the player to the Premier League.
However, the huge valuation is sure to put off potential suitors – including the Stamford Bridge outfit.
