As part of the expending 2013 NBA Global Games schedule, for the first time in franchise history, the Minnesota Timberwolves will play in Mexico City.

The Wolves will take on Spurs on December 4 at the Mexico City Arena.

The game will form part of comprehensive schedule that involves 12 NBA teams playing 10 regular season and preseason games in six different countries.

The Minnesota squad featured six international players from five different countries at the end of the 2012-13 season and is among the most internationally diverse teams in the NBA.

"With the huge international presence on our current roster and our increasing global popularity, this is a natural fit for us,."Timberwolves president Chris Wright said to NBA.com: 

"The NBA has done a phenomenal job in growing our game globally and we're excited to be a part of history as the NBA continues to expand its brand internationally."

NBA Global Games Mexico City 2013 will mark the league’s 21st game in Mexico overall - the most NBA match-ups held in any country outside the U.S. and Canada. 

The game will mark the Wolves' first game in Mexico whist Spurs will be playing their fifth.
