British & Irish Lions winger Christian Wade has paid tribute to his teammates following their emphatic 35-0 victory over the Melbourne Rebels.

The Wasps star was in the stands to watch Warren Gatland’s side blank their Australian opponents, with Connor Murray, Sean Maitland, Sean O’Brien and Ben Youngs all crossing the whitewash. Owen Farrell and Stuart Hogg made no mistake with five conversions between them, including one for a penalty try.

But, it was Ireland winger Simon Zebo who took the individual plaudits from Wade post-match, with the 22-year-old lauding the efforts of a fellow late call-up into the touring party.

“Great win yesterday from the boys, gotta shout out to my dude @SimonZebo for his performance,” wrote Wade on Twitter.

Wade made his Lions debut in the tour match against the Brumbies, and is still with the touring party ahead of their final two test matches against Australia.

Gatland’s side are 1-0 up in the series following the 23-21 victory in Brisbane on Saturday, and will hope to wrap up victory in Melbourne this weekend.
