British and Irish Lions kicking coach Neil Jenkins has said that the Lions kickers are the "best of the best."
Leigh Halfpenny, Owen Farrell, Jonathan Sexton and Stuart Hogg have been almost faultless so far during the Lions tour of Australia, landing a combined total of 55 out of their 64 shots.
Australia, on the other hand, have been poor with their kicking and this was magnified when Kurtley Beale missed two glorious opportunities to win the first test for Australia, by missing two late penalties.
As a result, Jenkins feels that the Lions are fortunate to have the quality that they do in the kicking department. He stated: "We are lucky to have the kickers we have. They are the best of the best."
"Leigh gets nervous now and again and he gets on top of himself and needs to stand back.
"But for a lad of his age, he's done fantastically well already and is maturing all the time."
First choice kicker Halfpenny was even singled out for individual praise from the coach. "It generally is goal-kicking that wins or loses test matches," he said.
The Lions have a 1-0 lead in the series and face Australia again this Saturday before the final test in Sydney on July 6.
