Manchester United face Turkish fight for £15m Real Madrid star

Published 3 Comments

Manchester United face competition from Galatasaray in the race to sign Angel Di Maria, according to reports.

French publication Le Sport 10 claims the Turkish giants have joined the race for the Real Madrid winger, with AS Monaco and Paris Saint Germain also keen on the 25-year-old.

The Daily Star reported at the end of May that Di Maria had been offered to the Red Devils, with new manager David Moyes able to bring the Argentine international to Old Trafford for £15million.

However, no further developments appear to have been made, and Manchester United will now face a battle if they want to sign the former Benfica speedster.

Gala have the funds to both sign Di Maria and pay his high wages, according to Le Sport 10, and want to make the player their new ‘symbol’.

The report goes on to claim Di Maria is saddened by the departure of Jose Mourinho from the Santiago Bernabeu – a factor which could affect his future at the club under new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Whether Manchester United can capitalise remains to be seen, but the player’s arrival would certainly be a transfer coup for Moyes as he looks to make his mark on the side following Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.
