As one legend leaves the club, it’s possible another legend will return. Cristiano Ronaldo may make another appearance in a Manchester United shirt but is there other talents that may be better suited?
New manger to the club, David Moyes, is ready to make his own impact at the club with a possible massive signing.
According to The Sun, "David Moyes is ready to smash the world transfer record to prove there is life after Alex Ferguson."
The rumours were once again intensified at the possibility of Ronaldo’s return to United when he tweeted: "All the news about my renewal with Real Madrid are false."
So it’s possible that Ronaldo is available and Moyes is the man that has deep enough pockets to afford him. However, there is a man with similar footballing style by the name of Gareth Bale which may leave a tougher decision than first thought for Moyes.
The Spurs man scored a massive 21 goals for Tottenham in the 2012-13 season which, an impressive return for a winger.
This may be due to the lack of attacking options for Spurs and it has been Bale that the team has turned to in time of need.
If Bale was to move to United he would be replacing Ashley Young - a man that hasn’t had the best of seasons. This, in my opinion, means that Bale would not have the same attacking opportunities like he does at Tottenham. However, Moyes tactically uses the wings to attack and this would utilise Bale to his potential.
With Bale on one wing and Valencia on the other, a serious combination of both pace and skill, it would leave opposition Premier League teams quivering.
On the other hand, there is the ‘Sultan of the Stepover’ Cristiano Ronaldo who is loved by the players and fans alike.
Ronaldo in my opinion does have genuine adoration for the club itself and after departing in 2009 for Real Madrid, he has only become better in all aspects of his game.
If Ronaldo was to return, there would be a formation change to allow Ronaldo to play the more attacking role, perhaps in partnership with the Dutch maestro Robin van Persie who was the 2012-13 Premier League top scorer with 26 goals.
Manchester United would not be able to just ‘slot’ Ronaldo in; the team would need to be accommodated to him to allow his skills and true potential to flourish.
So now we come to the conclusion. Is Ronaldo coming home? It’s a possibility. Is Bale now more desirable? It’s a possibility.
I would love to see Ronaldo return to Manchester but I would be far from disappointed if Moyes signed Bale.
He is a phenomenal player who is younger and whose salary wouldn’t be as expensive - but to see CR7 back in the Manchester United jersey would be a moment Manchester United fans would be delighted with.
