Cleveland Cavaliers' first draft shortlist down to three
The Cavaliers have a list of three top targets for their first draft pick according to ESPN
The Cleveland Cavaliers have shortened their number one draft pick targets down to a list of three and hope to make a final decision on Thursday morning, according to ESPN.
It is thought that the lists includes Ukrainian center Alex Len, 19-year-old Nerlens Noel and either Otto Porter or Ben McLemore.
Len is a 20-year-old who has impressed whilst representing the University of Maryland after being granted an athletic scholarship there in 2011.
Len has actually been in direct competition with Noel before when Maryland played against the Kentucky Wildcats, who Noel represented, and he came out on top that time.
During the match Len scored 23 points and made 12 rebounds, whilst Noel could only manage four points and nine rebounds.
That doesn’t mean to say that Noel hasn’t impressed, though. He is a year younger than Len and has already won three awards during his time at the University of Kentucky including the South Eastern Conference Rookie of the Year.
Porter and McLemore are therefore outsiders to be the number one draft pick, but both have also had noticeable seasons.
Porter is a small forward and has averaged 9.7 points per game in his freshman year whilst McLemore is a shooting guard who averaged 16.4 points and 5.3 rebounds during his freshman campaign.
