Wayne Rooney burst onto the scene in Euro 2004, scoring four times for England, followed by a hat-trick on his debut for Manchester United.
To date, he has reached 250 goals for club and country, scoring a beautiful solo effort against Brazil in the recent international friendly between the two nations.
Many strikers can only dream of reaching such a landmark, but Rooney has achieved this and more - five Premier League titles and one Champions League medal, to be precise.
This brings me to the topic of choosing five of Rooney's best goals. The former Everton frontman is no stranger to sublime strikes, having scored his fair share of wonder-goals, most notably the efforts against Arsenal and Middlesborough, which didn't quite make the top five.
Nemanja Vidic started the move having retrieved possession with a world-class tackle. The ball was whipped in for Rooney, who controlled and volleyed the ball home.
Another trademark Rooney volley - the ball was headed down by Louis Saha and Rooney dispatched it with aplomb.
And so to the top five. Which strikes made the cut? Do you agree with the selection? Let us know your favourite Rooney goals in the comments box provided below.
5. Rooney vs Middlesbrough (FA Cup)
A long-range strike, Rooney saw the 'keeper off his line and hit a swirling chip from around 30 yards. Incredible technique.
4. Rooney vs Arsenal (Premier League)
During Rooney's Everton days, this was the goal that confirmed his status as the biggest talent in England.
His 90th minute winner ended Arsenal's unbeaten run. Rooney hit a curling shot from outside the box right into the top corner - a strike that was all the more sensational given the fact that he was just 16 at the time.
3. Rooney vs Portsmouth (FA Cup)
This was very similar to Eric Cantona's famous chip vs Sunderland in 1996. Like Cantona, Rooney showed incredible technique by chipping the ball over the 'keeper with little margin for error.
Rooney hit a perfect chip as David James could do nothing but watch the ball fly into the top corner - a magical goal.
2. Rooney vs Newcastle (Premier League)
Rooney was fuming at the referee before scoring one of the finest volleys you will ever see.
Channelling all his frustration in the right way, Rooney hit a ferocious volley that flew past the helpless Shay Given.
1. Rooney vs Man City (Premier League)
Who could forget this? Voted the best Premier League goal of all-time by fans, this strike virtually sealed the title for United in 2011.
Both teams were deadlocked at 1-1 and it seemed it would stay that way until Rooney provided us with a piece of magic, hitting a sensational bicycle kick from a deflected Nani cross.
After scoring this match-winning goal, Rooney embraced the Stretford End with his arms wide open.
There are many other great Rooney goals that didn't make the list. What are your top five? Leave a comment below!
