Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is highly-linked with a move to Premier League side Arsenal and a deal is expected to be completed within the next week or so, but according to the player's agent, the deal is very close indeed.

The Argentine admitted earlier on in the summer that his future lies away from the Bernabeu and interest was high from both Arsenal and Italian side Juvents, but as the Serie A side are believed to be finalising a deal with Manchester City for Carlos Tevez, it looks like Higuain will be competing his Arsenal move sooner rather than later.

Another Serie A side interested was Rafael Benitez's side Napoli but the brother of Higuain, who is also the striker's agent, has admitted that a deal with Arsenal is very close to being completed.

When asked about his client's future and whether or not a deal is close with Arsenal, the brother of Higuain revealed that he believes the deal will be done.

“I think so. Juventus is a great club but Gonzalo is too expensive for their coffers," he said to Tuttomercatoweb.

"Napoli are a strong side and that place represents a lot for Argentines. Having said that, I cannot deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal.”

The transfer has taken longer than expected because of Jose Mourinho leaving and the club didn't want to make any decisions until a manager was appointed.

Yesterday it was announced that Carlo Ancelotti will be the next Madrid manager and it is now expected that the deal will finally be completed.
