Tottenham fans must be getting sick of the summer transfer window, and it hasn't even opened yet.

Gareth Bale, just like Luka Modric last summer, has been constantly linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Keeping Bale at White Hart Lane would be a huge statement of intent from Daniel Levy, however him, and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas have other concerns this summer.

The north London side are without a world-class striker.

Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor were not really pulling it off last season - so a new striker must be a priority for Villas-Boas.

The Brazilians seem to be at the top of Spurs' list, with Damiao and now Paulinho heavily linked with a move to north London.

The side who finished fifth last season have to get to the bottom of what went wrong, and that consequently shoved them a point behind rivals Arsenal and into the Europa League.

Fans will dither about this until Spurs get themselves into that top four spot, but it's not going to be easy.

With Bale's future in question and Arsenal on the verge of signing Real Madrid superstar Gonzalo Higuain, Spurs are losing more ground on their closest rivals.

Fans will just have to keep biting their nails until AVB and pulls something together in the transfer market.

However, it's not all doom and gloom for Tottenham. They are a classy side with some very talented players:

GK: Lloris
RB: Walker
RCB: Dawson
LCB: Vertonghen
LB: Assou-Ekotto
RM: Lennon
RCM: Parker
LCM: Dembele
LM: Sigurdsson
CF:Bale
ST: Adebayor/Defoe

This is a strong line-up, and although the likes of Parker, Adebayor and possibly Defoe may be on their way out, I still expect Spurs to seriously challenge for a Champions League spot next season. Hopefully Gareth Bale can be part of that challenge.
