Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Julio Cesar is in the running to fill Simon Mignolet's boots at Sunderland, the Sunderland Echo reports.
Mignolet completed a medical yesterday to seal his £10million move to Liverpool, leaving Black Cats manager Paolo Di Canio with some work to do.
The Italian needs to find an adequate replacement for Mignolet who had a very impressive 2012/13 campaign.
Back-up goalkeeper Keiren Westwood is unexperienced at the top level so Brazil's number one stopper could be brought in.
The former Inter Milan star had a miserable start to life in the Premier League but he soon became one of QPR's best players last season - despite his side's relegation.
He's also currently featuring in Brazil's Confederations Cup campaign where he has put in some good performances.
Arsenal were rumoured to be interested in acquiring the 33-year-old's services, but with reports having quietened in recent weeks, Sunderland will look to swoop.
Cesar has made it clear he wants a move away from Loftus Road but his ambition to play Champions League football and his high wage demands may scupper the Wearside club's chances.
Roma - who would be more likely to meet the player's lucrative contract demands - are also in the running for the Brazilian.
