Dimitar Berbatov set for Fulham stay

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov will remain at Fulham for next season, his agent has confirmed.

Emil Danchev has confirmed that the Bulgarian international will remain at Craven Cottage next season after transfer speculation had linked him with a big-money move to Russia, to join Zenit St Petersberg.

The former Tottenham striker has only one-year left on his current deal, meaning that he will become available on a free-transfer at the end of next season. But despite this, Fulham have decided to not cash in on Berbatov and he will play for them again next year.

And Danchev has also confirmed that Berbatov wants to extend his stay at Craven Cottage when his current deal does expire at the end of next season. Danchev also confirmed that Berbatov wants to continue playing for at least another two years.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Danchev stated: "He has another one-year contract with Fulham, and he will stay at Fulham until the end of his contract. He's happy at Fulham and he wants to stay another year.

"I don't want to comment on other clubs. Even if there is interest, he's happy at Fulham and he wants to stay. He will play football for at least two more years."

And the Bulgarian shows no sign of slipping form as he grows older - he made 35 appearances last season for Fulham, scoring 15 goals.

He and Petric formed a formidable relationship up-front for Martin Jol's side last season, and the news that he will be staying will be a relief for Fulham fans.
