The Yankees hope to all but seal a series win on Wednesday when they continue their three-game set with the Rangers at the Yankee stadium.

The opener was won by New York in dramatic fashion; Ichiro Suzuki hit a homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Yankees to a 4-3 victory.

On Wednesday New York will turn to veteran left-hander Andy Pettitte, who has lost his last two starts. Pettitte played in the defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, as he was hit for five runs and nine hits in six 2/3 innings to fall to 5-5 to go along with a 4.20 ERA.

"I just need to be better," Pettitte said to reporters after loss to Tampa.

"I need to shut these guys down once in a while and give us a chance to score first one time instead of always being in a hole. And I feel like I'm putting us in a hole every time out right now."

Pettitte has faced the Rangers 23 times and is 11-9 against them with a 5.24 ERA. Rangers are expected to counter his inclusion with righty Justin Grimm, who is 6-5 with a 6.57 ERA.

It is set to be another thrilling encounter on Wednesday when the two sides battle it out for the second match of the series.
