Six players threatened by a summer of blockbuster transfers (6)

Tottenham Hotspur – Jermain Defoe

Spurs fans love Jermain Defoe and it is hard not to really, he’s such a straightforward player, but you get the feeling his days may be numbered at White Hart Lane if chairman Daniel Levy was to sanction the signing of an established striker.

Brazil international Leandro Damiao has been linked with a switch to Tottenham and he has the look of the multi-faceted striker that Andre Villas-Boas has tended to use in the striker role.

Defoe’s turn-and-shoot style is great to watch but he is probably quite unsuited to the role of loan front man and his injury record in recent seasons isn’t great – he has a lot to do to keep himself relevant in an evolving Tottenham squad.
