Roma have confirmed that star midfielder Miralem Pjanic will not be leaving the club this summer, after Manchester City and Tottenham had expressed a strong interest in the Bosnian international.
The attacking-midfielder had been the subject of intense transfer speculation in Italy after falling out with former boss Zdenek Zeman last season. But the appointment of former Lille manager Rudi Garcia looks set to end the on-going transfer speculation connected with Pjanic.
Barcelona had also been credited with an interest for the former Lyon player, but he will stay at the Stadio Olimpico next season.
As well as the falling out with Zeman, it had been thought that Pjanic was looking for a move to a club that can offer him European football next season, after Roma could only finish 6th in Serie A last year.
And Rudi Garcia has confirmed that the Bosnian starlet is not for sale after a meeting with director of football Walter Sabatini. Garcia took over as boss last month, following Zeman's dismissal.
The pair met ahead of Roma's tour of America in the coming days. They discussed transfer plans, with the main subject Pjanic's future, which has now been resolved.
Garcia, in the meeting, proposed a list of six players that he wants to sign this summer as he looks to secure Champions League football next season for Roma.
