Roberto Martinez is hoping to seal a deal for Wigan Athletic duo Arouna Kone and Antolin Alcaraz by Friday, according to the Daily Mail.

The new Everton manager had teamed up with the pair at former club Wigan Athletic, and he is hoping to make them his first signings at Goodison Park.

Kone shone for Wigan last season, despite the Latics' relegation from the Premier League, with a number of impressive displays upfront, and he went on to score 11 goals in his first season in English football.

As a result, Martinez is keen to bring the pacey striker to Goodison Park to provide competition to Nikica Jelavic and Victor Anichebe, who are already at the club, and is willing to part with around £6.5m to secure the Ivorian's services.

Alcaraz, on the other hand, is a free agent, and the Spanish manager is a known admirer of the defender's talents. Alcaraz signed for Wigan in 2010 and went on to make 68 appearances for the club.

He is comfortable in possession as well as being fairly robust defensively and this means that he can fit in with Martinez’s favoured patient, productive style of football with ease.
