Ian Stannard is convinced that Team Sky can help Chris Froome seal victory in the Tour de France, a competition that he is the favourite for.
Froome has previously had to play as one of the supporting cast in getting Bradley Wiggins the yellow jersey, but will now play the staring role as Team Sky hope to win the event again.
Stannard believes that Sky have all the capabitilies to achieve their target too, although he is under no illusions that just because Froome is the leading candidate to win it, it will be easy. Speaking to the London Evening Standard, he said: “It’s going to be hard riding for Froomey given that he’s the overwhelming favourite.
“The other teams will all be looking to put one over on us but we’ve got big ambitions of our own and we’re all ready to race. We’ve all got full faith in his chances of success.”
Froome is in confident form going into the Tour de France, which starts in Corsica on Saturday, having won four of the five stage races that he has entered so far this year.
Team Sky will consist of the aforementioned duo, Geraint Thomas and Pete Kennaugh.
