Under-20 World Cup: Group E round-up

With the U20 World Cup in Turkey well underway, it's time to take a look at the standings before the last round of the group stage.

Here we take a look at the situation in Group E

Iraq lead the way in Group E - a single goal in front of Chile, their next opponents in the group stage.

In an interesting match against England in the first round, Iraq managed to salvage a point deep in stoppage time after fighting their way back from a two-goal deficit, before beating Egypt 2-1 in the second round. Now all they need is a draw against Chile to progress through.

Meanwhile Chile secured the exact result against Egypt in the first round before earning a point against England in a 1-1 draw.

In the third round of the group stage, Chile will be looking to leapfrog Iraq and secure a place in the last 16.

After having two points snatched from right in front of them in stoppage-time against Iraq and having earned a point against Chile, England are in a good position to capitalise on the fact that the top two teams are playing against each other next.

A win by a two-goal margin against Egypt would be enough to secure a spot in the last 16. However, even if England fall short of what is expected, they still have a good chance of qualifying from third place, seeing as the top four third-placed teams will find themselves in the next stage.

Egypt are at the foot of the table with no points, and only a theoretical chance of progressing.
