Given Arsenal's current goalkeeping situation, there are mixed views from Gunners fans about where to go from here.

Many have backed Wojciech Szczesny to stay and become the club's number one for many years to come.

However a small dilemma occurs from here as he has made several notable mistakes in the past season which need to be ironed out of his game.

He is a fairly young keeper so he will learn from these mistakes but there is another solution which could have another advantage, this is signing a new and experienced goalkeeper.

An experienced keeper can primarily provide competition for Szczesny and give him a challenge to compete for his place in the squad which alone will enable him to improve.

An older goalkeeper will have more experience in the game and the things that he has picked up he can pass on to Szczesny which he will learn things from and improve all different aspects of his goalkeeping ability.

There were some stages of the season where it looked like Lucasz Fabianski could provide the required competition to challenge Szczesny for his place in the squad.

Sure he had some very impressive performances, notably that special night in Munich, but is the the quality that Arsenal need?

Older and more experienced goalkeepers will help Szczesny more and bringing in an experienced goalkeeper will be better for the whole team when he plays.

So who is out there that Arsenal can realistically buy? Well, Mignolet looked an ideal candidate but then he secured a move to Liverpool.

So now he has gone to Liverpool, Reina looks like a realistic target and he brings experience and quality as a shot stopper. However he is prone to making mistakes - including some memorable ones against Arsenal. I believe Arsenal can do without him.

So who else does that leave? Julio Cesar is a keeper who has been strongly linked with a move to the Gunners

A keeper who has won the Champions League and had a fantastic seven-year spell with Inter Milan and is now seeking an escape route from relegated Queens Park Rangers.

Cesar seems to be an ideal candidate who can push Szczesny to become better and provide him with the help needed to improve his game and prove to be a great asset who can increase the quality of the team.
