English Premier League side Manchester City are on the hunt for a new striker as they look to bolster their attacking options.

The sale of Carlos Tevez to Juventus yesterday, plus Mario Balotelli's departure to AC Milan in January, has left City with just two strikers: Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero.

New manager Manuel Pellegrini is now on the look out for a new striker with three men in particular on his mind.

His number-one target is Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski as he prepares to bid £25m for the Polish striker - and may even offer Edin Dzeko as part of the deal.

However if the pursuit for Lewandowski fails, Pellegrini will then turn his attentions to two Premier League strikers, according to the Express.

Aston Villa's Christian Benteke and Swansea City's Michu are both on Pellegrini's wish-list if he cannot capture Lewandowski.

Benteke and Michu, who have both just completed their first seasons in England, had sensational seasons last year - both scoring over 15 goals for their clubs, and their performances have caught the eye of many potential suitors.

Tottenham are also weighing up a £20m bid for the Belgium striker Benteke, whilst Arsenal were at one point considering making a bid for Spaniard Michu, but nothing official came from those interests.

Swansea signed Michu last summer for just £2m and are keen to keep the player at the Liberty Stadium for another season, but a big offer from City may change the club's mind.

As for Benteke, he has reiterated once again that he eventually wants to play in the Champions League, but also admitted that he is happy to stay at Aston Villa for the time being.
