Cardiff City will smash their transfer record to sign Andreas Cornelius from FC Copenhagen.
The Bluebirds have reportedly parted with between £7m-£8m to bring the young Danish starlet to the club, breaking their previous record of £3m, which they paid for Michael Chopra.
Cornelius was the top scorer in the Danish Superliga with 18 goals in 32 games and is one of the brightest talents to come out of Denmark in many years.
The 20-year-old will certainly not struggle with the physicality of the Premier League, as he cuts an imposing figure himself. Standing at 6ft 4in, Cornelius has made a name for himself by being a towering centre-forward that is able to bully defenders in the aerial battle.
He is Cardiff manager Malky Mackay’s first signing of the summer and will play a crucial role in trying to keep the Bluebirds in the Premier League, following their promotion from the Championship last season.
Mackay has adopted a fairly direct style of football since taking charge of the Welsh club and it is thought that Cornelius will fit in perfectly with the type of tactics that his new manager will want to play.
