Gareth Bale has done wonders for Tottenham on both a personal and club level. He has rocketed himself to being among the world’s best players and represents the clubs level of ambition under manager André Villas-Boas.

But while most fans are lamenting his potential departure I would like to say a few things that suggest that it is not all bad news if Bale does decide to leave.

First of all, Bale will be leaving for around £80-90m plus maybe a couple of Madrid players (if that is indeed where he leaves to). Tottenham are in a sound financial position at the moment but a fresh influx of close to £100m could do the club wonders.

Tottenham could finally bring in the players that will propel the club into the next level and maybe a top three finish next season. Rumours that David Villa, Paulinho, Christian Benteke and Leandro Damião are interested is great news, and the signing of any of those four could make an already great squad even better.

Even if the money wasn't immediately spent on players I want everyone to stand back and look at the current set of players available to Tottenham. Even if Bale left, the squad would still be brimming with quality.

WIth a backbone of Lloris, Vertonghen, Kaboul, Sandro, Dembélé, Holtby and a new striker Tottenham already have a great squad that are known for their flair and guile. Not to mention the likes of Lennon and Walker and Defoe and Adebayor.

I guarantee if this set of players lined up for any other team in the Premier League then they would still be in for a chance at a top four finish. Especially with AVB at the helm.

Also the money can go towards the building of the new stadium if ever it is required in that field of finance.

What's more, and perhaps the most important aspect for me is that with Bale gone each individual player will realise their importance to the squad. There were shouts of a one-man team last season and I think, to a certain extent, this was the case.

However, with Bale gone the team would need to get together and believe that they can do it without him. The likes of Sigurdsson and Holtby would need to step up and perform at a higher level because goals and creative play need to come from somewhere - which, last season, was indeed Bale.

So, in conclusion, I would say that if Gareth Bale were to leave then he would leave Tottenham in a very healthy position financially, he would be a shining example of how players can improve at the Lane and crucially, his departure would engineer the best possible performances from the remaining players.
