Manchester United launch bid for Everton star
Manchester United transfer news: David Moyes wants to be reunited with Leighton Baines
David Moyes has launched a bid to take Everton full-back Leighton Baines to Manchester United, according to the Times.
Moyes was announced as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor last month and has reportedly being eyeing up a raid for two of his former players, Baines and midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
The newspaper reports that the offer for the 28-year-old is believed to be in the region of £10-12 million, although Everton chairman Bill Kenwright will likely fight tooth-and-nail to keep hold of one his key players.
Indeed, according to Sky Sports, Everton have already rejected Manchester United's offer out of hand.
Baines recently revealed he was looking forward to working under new Everton boss Roberto Martinez - however a chance to move to the reigning Premier League champions may prove too hard to resist.
Manchester United appear well-stocked in the left-back department with Patrice Evra, Fabio da Silva and Alexander Buttner on their books.
Should Baines make the move to Old Trafford, Evra at 32-years-old is the most likely to be moved on.
The England international enjoyed a fine season with Everton last time round, and earned a spot on the PFA team of the year.
