De Laurentiis rejects Chelsea & Man City target transfer talks
Chelsea and Manchester City transfer news: No talks with Edinson Cavani says Aurelio de Laurentiis
Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis insists he doesn't need to hold talks with Edinson Cavani over his future.
The Uruguay forward is currently away with his country at the Confederations Cup, but will return to his club for pre-season in the coming weeks following their 2-1 defeat against Brazil last night.
Cavani, a target for the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid, says he is unhappy with all the recent speculation surrounding his future and wants to clear the air with his club president.
However De Laurentiis says that talks aren't required and that his stance remains unchanged; if Chelsea or Manchester City meet Cavani's €63 million release clause then he is free to leave the Serie A outfit.
"There is no need to have a face to face with Cavani," he said.
"If a club offers €63million then we would allow him to leave. The release clause will have been activated.
"It's not fair that Cavani has distractions while he is playing in an important tournament like the Confederations Cup.
"Should we receive an offer, then fine. If this offer doesn't arrive then Cavani will stay in Italy with us."
De Laurentiis went on to confirm that Manchester City are the only club he has met with to discuss a deal for Cavani, but described their offer as 'inadequate'.
He said: "The only meeting I've had has been with Manchester City, but the offer was inadequate."
