The agent of Manchester City defender Maicon has stated that his client wants to stay with the Premier League runners-up next season.
Despite his willingness to remain in England next season, Maicon has struggled to gain a permanent place in City's starting XI since his move from Inter Milan in 2012.
Maicon made only seven appearances for Roberto Mancini's side last season, who frequently prefered Paulo Zabaleta and Micah Richards over the Brazilian at right-back.
But Maicon's agent Roberto Calenda has stated that the defender wants to stay and fight for a place in new manager Manuel Pellegrini's starting XI next season.
Speaking to Radio Sportiva, Calenda said: "He has had an unfortunate season- it can happen. Now he wants to prove his worth in a Manchester City jersey and achieve the World Cup call with Brazil."
But a call up to the senior Brazil squad looks a long away for Maicon of late, who did not travel to Brazil with his team-mates to participate in the Confederations Cup.
This tournament is seen as a dress-rehearsal of the real World Cup that will take place in 2014, but Brazil manager took Barcelona's Dani Alves over Maicon, who may struggled to oust the Spanish ace.
Maicon has also been linked with Serie A side Roma, by Calenda has ruled out a move to Rudi Garcia's side.
"Interest from Roma? Italian football is going through a bad time economically ao it is difficult to take players with this kind of salary," added Calenda.
City return to pre-season next week, and Maicon will be looking to impress new manager Manuel Pellegrini from the off.
